This collaborative project involved redesigning the New Zealand Ministry of Justice’s Family Section, with a focus on improving accessibility, usability, and overall user experience.
The section had not been updated since 2015, so the redesign aimed to modernize the interface while addressing the needs of diverse users. The project combined extensive user research, including stakeholder interviews and user testing, with design system development to ensure consistency across pages and components.
A particular emphasis was placed on the Care of Children section, aligning with recommendations from the Te Korowai Tureā-Whānau report to better support families navigating legal processes. The final output included a fully interactive prototype that showcased a user-centred, accessible approach and served as a foundation for future development and ongoing improvements to the Ministry’s digital services.
